Codderre keeps this seat which he snatched last time around from BQ's Nunez. Bourassa has a lot of Italian Canadians. They tend to be federalists. Also, Codderre enjoys personal popularity. A recent poll has the Tories at 1 percent in Quebec. This would make a two way race between the Liberals (as the only federalist option) and the Bloc. The Liberals are going to pick up seats in Quebec with the added support of Tories. Bourassa will stay red on election night. |

Aptly named riding for the former Liberal Premier. The Liberals won over 50% of the vote last time and I doubt it'll change this year. |

Interesting coincidence, although the Bourassa in question is Henri--and given the '93 BQ victory, the coincidence is a little shallow. But Coderre, fourth time lucky in '97, is *the* bright young cabinet up-and-comer in the Grits' Quebec caucus, so don't expect him to get unlucky for a while yet. |
