Hochelaga-Maisonneuve is urban riding in Montreal that is almost 95% French. Past results will show a very strong vote for sovereignty in all referendums as well a strong support for the Bloc and PQ. Nothing has changed since 97, Hochelaga Maisonneuve will remain a strong seat for the Bloc and one of the few Bloc seats on the island of montréal in 2000. |

As with Duceppe's neighbouring Laurier-Ste-M, the Bloq here acts as a defacto "social democratic" party; traditionally working-class east Montreal as the equivalent of traditionally working-class, NDP-friendly east Toronto. As goeth Duceppe, so goeth Menard. |
