Mr. Proulx replaced Marcel Masse in a by-election and in a government town, a government MP is about as safe as he can be. Watch for Mr. Proulx to make cabinet to shore up western Quebec representatation

To touristic riviere-crossers, Hull's innards may seem so exotically Quebecois that it *must* be BQ; but remember, it's the National Capital Region, and neither Muldoon nor Lucien could budge the Gritty (and Anglo Aylmer-boosted) voters. Oh, the mountain moved to Muhammad when the early-90s Lib member switched to Bloq; but the electorate (in the only '93 BQ incumbent defeat) saw to that...
20/11/00 FPG Email:
Like the all the Outaouais region, Hull will remain Liberal. Although Mr. Proulx has had serious health difficulties and been accused of tax fraud, this should not erode his support significantly. Anglos in the Aylmer section of the riding and federal civil servants can't stand Quebec nationalism, so the Bloc candidate has no chance, and the Alliance is simply not a serious player anywhere in Quebec.
