With just over 50% of the vote in 1997, John Redwood should be feeling rock-solid safe. Even a big tactical swing from Labour to the Lib Dems could not unseat him. However, it will be interesting to see whether the Lib Dems can improve on their 1997 showing, building on recent success in local elections (which saw them come very close to seizing control of Wokingham Council) and by squeezing the Labour vote. All the same, shouldn't give John Redwood too many nightmares ... |

The Lib Dems seized control of the Council last year with 30 seats to each party and one Tory abstaining. Labour are nowhere to be seen. Dr Royce Longton may muster an upset in John Redwoods seat. |
