Parliament would be a much poorer place without Brian Sedgemore, and it won't be! The Liberals have had great, even freakish-looking success in local elections, built on a series of Labour scandals. However, there is absolutely no evidence that this will transfer to a General Election. Swing to Liberals, but a very comfortable Labour win. |

One of those places where the Conservatives fell so low in '97, they were nicked for second by Liberal Democrat--and if that's a portent of what may happen in a lot more safe Labour seats this year, look out. |
