Despite having failed to make a major impact nationally, William Hague's local constituents will probably be much more sympathetic and he should extend his 10,000 majority gained in 1997.

There is something seriously wrong if the leader of a major party can't win his/her seat. Look for a fairly large majority for Hague.

Unless his constituents are having a cheap laugh it is doubtful William Hague will be turfed out from his own constituency.

Beleaguered as he is, I can see Hague benefiting from a greater swing towards him than either Blair or Kennedy--sort of like how John Major earned "local bloke" trust and the best Tory seat of '97...
