The way things are going for the liberals , i am now thinking that this riding will go Bloc. And that in spite of a rather discreet campaign by the Bloc candidate. The unpopularity of the liberals even here is surprising. Many people that would have voted Green or NDP are thinking of voting Bloc.Close one but the Bloc will get it

TCTC? Non.

There is just enough anglophones and immigrants to ensure this riding will remain in the Liberal column, the Bloc has no room to grow here. Things might get more interesting if the Conservatives manage to have a breakthrough in Quebec as this could either result in a rally to the Conservatives from federalists, or it could split the vote and insure a Bloc win, but this doesn't seem probable at this point.
07 11 05 Vote NDP
While the Liberal margin of victory here was similar to Hull-Aylmer, Hull-Aylmer is very Francophone while this place is more mixed and more akin to a riding like Lasalle-Emard. I think the Bloc can take this in a winter election, but demographics ensure that the things can't get worst for the Liberals, even if they may stay this bad for a long time, thus making a Liberal hold possible to probable in the event that Liberal fortunes in Quebec improve a bit by spring.

This is the riding where the PQ was stealing NO votes in the referendum, unless those old scrutineers are back, Mme. Folco will win this riding. Even the new suburb communities arebeing occupied by young, anglophone and allophone communities.

It's obvious Neal is not from Montreal or the Montreal area (or else is not very objective) because SSM is really not a major issue in Montreal and will not be swaying anyone. Adscam will and the threat of the separatists will be what sways voters. With that in mind, the correctly described, ethnically diverse Chomedey will likely vote Liberal to block the bloq. This is not a for certain thing, but it is our opinion at this time. As for a conservative win here...in the Mulroney years the PC party was populated by Belinda types and if that was how the CPC was populated now, then yes the CPC would have a chance. Unfortunatly for the CPC, the "Yosemite Sam" types that run the show just won't fly here.

I don't think same-sex marriage is an issue here at all, and it isn't in most of Quebec. Quebec has the highest support for same-sex marriage in Canada. Speaking of Chomedy, my parents and grandparents used to teach there and it has a large Jewish population - most of whom support same-sex marriage. The main issue that will determine the seat is how many people vote BQ and how many people decide to stay with the Liberals.

04 05 05 Neal
Raymonde Folco's future depends on how angry the good burghers of Chomedey are at the Liberals over Adscam and Same Sex marriage. Chomedey is one of the more ethnically diverse areas of Montreal, so SSM could be a problem.
The Conservatives could take it (they held it during the Mulroney years) with a major swing their way, however, it is more likely to fall into Bloc hands if even only a small portion of the Federalist vote is drawn away from Folco.
Todays polls which showed the Bloc at 63% in Quebec would indicate that Mme. Folco has the campaign of her life ahead of her.
06 05 05 M. Lunn
This does have a large ethnic community, is generally a federalist area, and went liberal in 1993. However, that still cannot prevent a Bloc win since the liberals are at an all time low in Quebec. Raymonde Folco may be re-elected, but it is far from a guarantee. Of the four Laval ridings, this is the only one the liberals have a chance at winning.
