In the local elections, the Tories picked up 31 seats (a gain of 7, only 3 short of the 34 needed for a majority) while labour lost 8 seats to 23. Lib Dems lost 6 of its 7 seats. The collapse of the UKIP vote has undoubtedly helped the Tories. The local election results generally bold well for the Conservative. While Labour's margin was pretty large in 2015, with the strong Leave result here and the retirement of Graham Allen, the Conservative Party has a fair chance of taking this one.
