Labour held on to Newport in the May 5th local elections and they will hold on in the GE as well. Welsh Labour running their own campaign. |

Labour suffered losses across the country, and Newport was one of the few bright spots where it retained control of council (only losing 6 of 37 seats). Even conservatives council leader acknowledged that they were disappointed with the result. As the first minister said, Labour had certainly 'defied the odds'. This bolds well for them in Wales, and in Newport specifically in June. |

This is going to be a tight race between the Tories and Labour, I'm more apt to go with the Tories because they have the momentum right now. |
