If Woodward was in a quixotic state of mind, he could have looked with hope at Labour's reasonably solid (if still--unlike neighbouring Banbury--not within technical marginality) 2nd place finish here in 1997. That certainly would have spared the kind folk of St. Helens some peace of mind... |
