For a full profile of this seat see my site at http://explorers.whyte.com/el.htm The DUP have a serious challenge here. Incumbent Willie Ross, not exactly a moderniser among Unionists, has consistently opposed the party leadership's support of the Agreement. Gregory Campbell on the other hand has been pretty visible in the last few months since he became a minister. But my gut feeling is still to call the seat for Ross, if only narrowly. |

This could yet fall to the Democratic Unionists, as they have a strong candidate and more finance and resources available to them. In addition, many locals in the constituency are appalled by their MP's tendency not to turn up at Westminster. |

Despite a strong presence and the DUP's wealthy electoral machine, possession remains 9/10 of the law in NI, and the UUP's run of Westminster success is likely to continue. |
