Linda Perham was featured on a documentary about new MPs shortly after the last election, and seemed genuinely amazed that she had won. I wouldn't be too surprised if she wins again - even the Tories admit they are doing badly in suburban London. The Tories are running Vivian Bendall, who was an MP from a 1978 byelection until the 1997 rout. Whatever his merits or otherwise as an MP it is difficult for the Tories to project a new image if they are running the same candidates who were rejected by the voters four years ago. |
