Where are all you Brummies who are interested in elections? I will stick my (London-based) oar in and predict a big win for Clare Short, a politician who inspires genuine regard as someone who speaks her mind and has also been the best minister for international development Britain has had. Her constituency is inner-city Birmingham and is rare in being a seat where whites are in a minority. It is overwhelmingly safe for Short, although turnout was low in 1997 and might fall below 50% this time. |
