They told Den Dover to bend over and gave him the boot in '97. (He subsequently got booted back in as MEP.) Steady Tory in the Thatcher-Major years, but the '97 jolt into a 17-point Labour plurality appears a bit much to make up for, and the Tories have more important Lancashire targets... |
