With a massive 27,000 majority, it's hard to see Labour losing here, especially since Peter Kilfoyle has been one of those demanding that New Labour spend more time concentrating on its heartlands. However, it will be interesting to see whether the Lib Dems are able to consolidate the second-placing they won last time, profiting from their new-found high-profile status in Liverpool with a huge majority on the city council. |

Like Riverside, turnout a big issue but Peter Kilfoyle will win 75%+ anyway. He resigned as a junior minister in the Blair government protesting Labour had gone too far away from its traditional roots. Got a lot of national publicity and is never out of the Liverpool Echo - maybe disgruntled heartland voters will be more likely to turn out for him? |
