| Tess Kingham has surprisingly decided to stand down after just one term. Labour therefore forfeit any personal vote (usually highest after an enthusiastic new MP's first term). However, this place always goes with the national tide (in 1997 it was number 75 out of 75 on Labour's target list, making it the seat that would have pushed them over the top in the Commons). With the Tories going nowhere fast, that means Parmjit Dhanda should be the next MP for this seat. |
