Absolutely no doubt that John Williams will win. St Albert is well to do and very conservative. His only worry is with the voters in North Edmonton. So far It has been a very low profile campaign. |

Of course John Williams will take this riding. People are proud of the cautious, low-key local accountant made good, who has a slightly elevated profile in his party due to his government waste reports and his presiding over the committee that investigated the sponsorship scandal and grilled Chuck Guite. In the northern part of this riding, you'll find some old (former Sen.)Nick Taylor Liberals and stalwarts who voted Liberal provincially over the last 10 years. But this is a blue-Liberal, practical type of sensibility, and Williams appeals to that. If there was any competition against Williams, it was last election, when a St. Albert city councillor took some of the St. Albert vote. But this time around, Williams should have a walk in the park. Talk around here is more about what kind of cabinet post he'd get in a possible Harper government. |
