Michael Chong not only gets points from socons and rock solid populist Tories of the Reform-Alliance tradition for his honest stand against the Quebec Nation vote, but he also gets points from business leaders and red Tories of the PC tradition for being a prominent and well known moderate within the Party. With support of Conservatives of all flavour, he should be able to re-take his riding easily. |

Michael Chong's extremely popular in the riding, and at this point it seems likely that he'd win running under any banner. The increasing ?Torontoization? of Fergus and Elora and more (potentially Liberal-friendly) suburbs in Halton Hills will be pretty irrelevant here as Chong will hold it easily. |

A.S. 74.99.222.209 |
As elected Tory dissenters go, Michael Chong makes for an interesting comparison with Garth Turner next door; and if Garth loses, it proves there's no wisdom in showboating. As a Dominion Institute co-founder, Chong's the rare Tory (or, in this day and age, the rare *anything*) who carries a certain enlightened ‘person of letters’ cast; which may explain how he rose to the best Ontario CPC percentage away from the Ottawa/St. Lawrence blue zone. Should Harper keel over, don't be surprised if Mike Chong rises as some frontrunning Obama-cum-David-Cameron new-age-CPC-leader apparition... |

Besides the fact this is one of the few safe Conservative ridings within 100km of Toronto, Mike Chong's decision to resign over the Quebec Nation resolution showed great integrity and will be well appreciated. People like an MP who represents their constituents, not a trained party seal and Michael Chong is one of the few in the Conservative caucus who isn't a trained seal. |
