Judy W.L will easily re-take this riding. She has a strong election team in the area. Her opponent is someone I am not really familiar with(living in the riding). After her strong showing(defeating a Liberal cabinet minister)in 2004 and growing support in 2006. This is a fairly safe NDP riding.

The Liberals won in '88 and '93; but actually, this could have been, in ground-up advantage if not in transposed votes, an NDP hold in both years (!) had present boundaries held then. As for 2004, I suspect the only people who seriously thought JWL would lose against an aging lesser Grit cabmin were wishful Grit partisans (even if she lost against him in '93). As for the present, at worst, the NDP will be reduced to a Patty & Selma Bouvier pair, i.e. Libby Davies and JWL...

Lets remember that the MP here defeated a Liberal Cabinet minister in 2004, when people thought she would lose. Judy is one of the strongest NDP MP’s in the house, and people know that. She wins by large margins and will continue to do so. I project an NDP victory here.

The Best NDP showing last time around so no matter what happens Judy Wasylicia-Leis should easily retain this riding. She only lost in 1993 when NDP voters en masse abandoned them to turf the Tories, but right now the Tories as unpopular as they are amongst some, are not nearly as unpopular as Mulroney was in 1993.
