A.S. 99.233.96.153 |
At its low point, the seat voted just under 40% PC in 1988--and remember that the very Albertan presence of the Peace River part obscures that little bit of Prince George, the latter of which might explain why Jay Hill's only got a not-even-60% mandate compared to the Albertan 70s and 80s. It's still super-safe, and it helps that Jay Hill's been a cabinet/caucus overachiever... |

M.Lunn is right on the button. This Alberta right is very much like BC, oh whoopsie did I get back backwards? A joke. Either way the fact remains that this is the only riding on the Alberta side of the mountains, even if it is technically in BC. This is also one of the strongest ridings for the CA and Reform Party, and, was won by the provincial Reform Party in BC (they won 2 seats, both in this federal riding) and also a stronghold of Social Credit provincially too. This is a right-wing riding that will continue to vote right-wing. The old NDP brand of populism is dead. |

With the exception of the Prince George part of the riding, this riding is more akin to Alberta than BC in both its geography and its politics. And that means it votes Conservative in huge droves. |
