Redistribution left John Rustad holding the short straw in the north, and he's vowed to run again for the revised Nechako Lakes seat despite being resident in Prince George. Now, if Rustad had a slightly higher profile than the legislative pages, this mightn't be an issue. However, taking both this and potential anger over the carbon tax into account, the margins for the Liberals are just too high to see this seat as seriously threatened. It went to the Socreds in '91, and last election renegade Liberal Paul Nettleton felt the need to flee the seat for the slightly cuddlier pastures next door in his failed bid to win as an independent.
