The NDP did much better here in 2009 than anybody anticipated. Despite the inclusion of Liberal-friendly northern Nanaimo, Leonard Krog's vote share didn't dip significantly. So there's no doubt that he will win once again, probably with 60% or so. |

Some will say that Nanaimo is changing, perhaps tilting if only slightly from its more working class traditions - there are plenty of trendy eateries and high priced lattes for sale now in downtown Nanaimo - but that's all just on the surface, for the tourists. Union culture is alive and well. Nanaimo's superficial changes are more in the vein of ?the more things change, the more they stay the same.? Anyways, Krog cruises to an easy victory. |

The NDP will sweep the Island and the only issues to be decided are the margin of victory and how much the Green vote will grow. Sixty percent for the NDP is not out of the question. |
