de Jong wont have any troubles. He won handily last time, and will do the same again.

Oh Mike will win this one hand's down that not the problem - the problem is that Mike consistently doesn't know the fine line between good and bad judgment in politics and his antics this past week regarding helping a constituent who is also a major donor to a candidate that Mike is co-chairing the campaign of and not disclosing it is - If Gordon puts Mike in cabinet I predict before too long that Mike will become the Moe Sihota of the Liberal government. Keep Mike in the back benches and in a few years when a good right wing movement is up and running let mike cross over and join it - he will be more at home than with the Liberals who will become much more centralist after they win the upcoming election.

t'll be interesting to see what De Jong gets after the election. I'd heard a rumour that Campbell would split the Attorney-General's ministry into two, like it was under the Socreds, and make De Jong solicitor general, as De Jong really wants the AG's job, which Geoff Plant has a virtual lock on. Now I hear that won't happen. Campbell will have a hard time keeping control over his caucus, and if there's no official opposition, there are likely to be at least 4 Liberal MLAs who before too long will bolt to form their own party. If De Jong isn't kept busy and happy, watch for him to lead these MLAs if he doesn't end up challenging Campbell's leadership from inside the caucus. Or the party could tear itself apart in the leadership race following Campbell's retirement 7-10 years down the road, with the federal Alliance supporters and the Paul Martin Liberals each forming their own parties.
