In the local elections, the Tories picked up 31 seats (a gain of 7, only 3 short of the 34 needed for a majority) while labour lost 8 seats to 23. Lib Dems lost 6 of its 7 seats. The collapse of the UKIP vote has undoubtedly helped the Tories. However, support for Labour did however hold up well in Gedling, which is the Tories' number one target seat in Nottinghamshire for the general election. Vernon Coaker is a high profile MP, may just be able to withstand the tide.

6% Labour win here last time, The Tories should be able to take this with no problem thanks to their higher poll numbers.
