This is an academic exercise. If the NDP was 10 points behind in 1996, they will be at least 20 behind in 2001.

Again, someone has to be first to state the obvious to help Milton fill out his board -- The BC Liberals win this one in a walk. It was relatively close in 1996, but this time Katherine Whittred will not be facing either an NDP incumbent or a strong BC Reform effort. This, plus the gentrification of the Lower Lonsdale area and the bottomed-out NDP vote, make this one an easy call.
Editor's Note: Ms. Whittred was Milton's Gr.9 Social Studies Teacher.

It seems like a no-brainer that the Liberals would win this riding but with the recent municipal labour problems (a la Transit strike) the unions are pushing pretty hard to get their members out to the polls and voting NDP. Also, anyone left who still votes NDP is probably a staunch supporter whereas the Liberals, in terms of poll respondents, likely have the higher majority of those who don't vote. My projection, Liberals by 5 points. Of course, I did also call Edmonton over Dallas in 5 games so what the heck do I know?
