Caccia won this riding with 65+% in the last federal election. He has kept his riding Liberal for over thirty years and won't have any trouble doing the same this year. |

If one goes by Frank, the only local folks who'd really like to see Caccia go are ambitious municipal Grits who're salivating for an open-seat ticket into Parliament. Otherwise, this may also be deemed an NDP "bookmark target", as a strong second-place showing by a young rookie candidate showed in '97. Though they can't depend on the solidarity-support of defeated NDP MPP Tony Silipo anymore... |

Before jumping the gun on assumptions, one must look at how the municipal election went. An outspoken NDP'er convincingly beat a die-hard Conservative. Not that the Liberals have a chance of losing this seat, but with the doctor being a (although not willingly) silent backbencher, the NDP make steal a good deal of votes. |
