While this was close last time - it is unlikley to be this time and the Liberals committed to buying and saving Burns Bog while the NDP were still wanting to put a theme park on it. Liberal hold |

The rumor is that Norm Lortie is running for the NDP. He came close to beating Reni last time. But the combination of the NDP's collective screw-ups and unpopularity, Reni's success at getting the Nordel Way extension completed when Norm failed while sitting in government, and the addition of the Pinewood neighbourhood south of 64th Ave (80% BCLiberal in the Delta South by-election) will probably spell a majority BC Liberal win. |

This is a solid Liberal riding, despite the fact that the NDP has now cut a deal with the feds to save Burns Bog. Norm Lortie does have some local name recognition as a former MLA and city councillor, but that won't be nearly enough to take this suburban seat. Lortie won in '91 because of the Socreds and Libs splitting the anti-NDP vote, and that won't be the case this time. |
